 Australia’s ONLY Indigenous Informatics Conference will be held on Monday 11 August prior to the official opening of HIC. The conference will address contemporary practical examples, the future of Indigenous health and its relationship to e-health, the use of data and the innovative use of social media in Indigenous populations. You will be able to contribute to developing a national strategy, which will be explored in interactive roundtables with all delegates.

 Keynote speakers include

  • Dr Leonie Katekar has over 20 years of health sector experience in a diversity of clinical and non-clinical roles. Dr Katekar was the Chief Rural Medical Practitioner and is now the Chief Clinical Information Officer for the Northern Territory Department of Health. Dr Katekar is held in high regard nationally for her leadership capabilities in delivering in e-health, particularly in the indigenous health context;
  • Dr Jason King is a Yued Noongar GP from the Wheatbelt town of Dandaragan in Western Australia. After working in the state public health system he and his family took the road north to Broome to complete his GP training with the Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Council where he has combined his passion for Aboriginal health and information systems;
  • Simon Georgeff, from Precedence Health Care will speak on key issues in technology adoption and use of social media in indigenous communities: experience on the ground.
