The Health Informatics Society of Australia (HISA) would like to invite you to the inaugural national conference, Health Privacy Futures - HPF'08, in Brisbane on the 10th and 11th of November.

Health privacy is a key foundation of Australia's transition to a safer and more efficient health system. This conference looks to bring together healthcare providers, consumers and Australia's leading privacy experts, to educate those who need to understand their obligations under the proposed legislative changes and to provide guidance to those planning our health privacy future.

HISA Vic branch will be holding a joint meeting with the Austin Centre for Applied Clinical Informatics (ACACI). The meeting theme is "The Health CIO in 2015" and the seminar will have Hospital CIO's sharing their visions for health over the next 7 years. After the HISA Vic/ACACI meeting HISA Vic will be holding their Annual General Meeting. If you are interested in finding out more about HISA Vic or you are interested in getting involved with supporting health Informatics in Victoria then you stay for the AGM. Any financial member wishing to stand for election to the Branch Executive must complete a nomination form and forward it to the Branch Secretary, Jan Staehr, via email jan.staehr@austin.org.au, by 5pm Wednesday November 19th. Alternatively, completed nomination forms may be brought in person to the AGM.

The Western Australian branches of the Health Informatics Society of Australia (HISAWA)  and the Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA Ltd.) are proud to present the 3rd Health Information Technology Forum in Perth, Western Australia on Wednesday, 26th November 2008 at Technology Park.

The purpose of the Forum is to provide information and a networking opportunity for individuals and organisations with an interest in e-health, health informatics and health information management.

The theme of the forum is E-Health Landscapes. The full day program brings together e-health experts from across WA who will take participants on a journey through the Australian e-health landscape. The morning session is tailored towards the big picture issues (federal and state strategy discussions) and the afternoon devoted to excellent and innovative e-health projects originating in Western Australia. The forum will highlight issues of particular local significance, including the future of Western Australian health information and technology, as well as examining the role of e-health at a national and state level.

HITWA08 is being held prior to the 3rd International e-Health & Telemedicine Workshop hosted by the Centre for e-Health at the University of Western Australia. This workshop features a range of fantastic national and international speakers and will be held from 27th - 28th November 2008 in Perth. (See  Associated Events page for further details).

This is an introductory course for health professionals, students and researchers to understand the dynamics of health and care systems, particularly unintended consequences of policy, practice, management, workforce and technology interventions.

The concepts are illustrated using simple computer models drawn from real world problems over the past two decades by two experienced practitioners, Mark Heffernan and Geoff McDonnell.
