2008 Health Information Technology WA Forum
(HITWA 2008)
E-Health Landscapes
Wednesday, 26th November 2008
Technology Park, Perth Western Australia

Jointly hosted by the WA branches of the Health Informatics Society of Australia and the Health Information Management Association of Australia

Invitation to Attend

The Western Australian branches of the Health Informatics Society of Australia (HISAWA)  and the Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA Ltd.) are proud to present the 3rd Health Information Technology Forum in Perth, Western Australia on Wednesday, 26th November 2008 at Technology Park.

The purpose of the Forum is to provide information and a networking opportunity for individuals and organisations with an interest in e-health, health informatics and health information management.

The theme of the forum is E-Health Landscapes. The full day program brings together e-health experts from across WA who will take participants on a journey through the Australian e-health landscape. The morning session is tailored towards the big picture issues (federal and state strategy discussions) and the afternoon devoted to excellent and innovative e-health projects originating in Western Australia. The forum will highlight issues of particular local significance, including the future of Western Australian health information and technology, as well as examining the role of e-health at a national and state level.

HITWA08 is being held prior to the 3rd International e-Health & Telemedicine Workshop hosted by the Centre for e-Health at the University of Western Australia. This workshop features a range of fantastic national and international speakers and will be held from 27th - 28th November 2008 in Perth. (See  Associated Events page for further details).

HISA(WA) and HIMAA(WA) look forward to welcoming you and learning from you. We promise to provide a memorable, informative (and sunny!) journey through the Australian e-health landscape.

Since 2004 the annual Joint Meetings of the Standards Australia IT-014 Working Committees and the HL7 Australia membership have contributed much to the productive collaboration within the Australian e-Health Community. The 2008 Standards Australia / HL7 Australia Joint Meeting on December 4 & 5 in Sydney will provide the opportunity to re-energise this collaboration and revitalise the work of the IT-014 Committees and Working Groups.

On Day 1 we will explore how Standards Australia's new business model can progress our Work Plan and will also hold routine committee meetings. The HL7 Implementation Symposium on Day 2 will give us cross-organisational insights and updates on core e-health domains such as Pathology, Discharge Summaries and e-Prescribing. Three Workshops on methods and tools to identify and fix HL7 implementation variances is also planned.
