The Health Informatics Society of Australia invites the submission of abstracts for applied health informatics presentations during the 2009 Health Informatics Conference (HIC'09) to be held on August, 2009 in Canberra, at the Canberra Convention Centre. Submissions of abstracts are due by March 30. These presentations will be reviewed by the HIC09 Organization Committee for their quality and relevant content, as detailed below. Note that, they will not be subject to an academic peer review process that applieds to scientific conference papers. The aim is to provide HIC‘09 delegates with practical insights into the implementation of a broad range of health informatics technologies and provide a platform for exposure of innovations that might not yet have had formal evaluations. These presentations should fit within the one of the theme areas of the HIC'09 conference of "The Frontiers of Health Informatics" as outlined below.

What we need from you 

The organising committee is seeking presentations from both vendors who deliver information technology solutions into the healthcare industry and those healthcare providers who implement the technology solutions. There will be two groups of presentations, the first relating to implementations and the second group relating to systems and technologies. Systems presentations will be selected on the uniqueness of the technologies and services they describe and the potential future significance of those solutions to healthcare. Implementation presentations will be selected on the basis of the insight they provide into the issues surrounding the implementation of healthcare information systems and process into the Australian healthcare environment.

• All submissions will be reviewed by the organising committee to ensure the best quality and most relevant are selected for presentation
• Successful presenters will be allocated 20 minutes for their presentation
• The successful presenter will be required to register for the conference (at a specially discounted presenters rate)
• The deadline for the submission of abstracts is April 13, 2009
• The deadline for the submission of presentations is 5:00pm May 30, 2009
