HISA President Michael Legg

Michael Legg BSc(Hons) MCom PhD FAICD FAIM FACHI MACS(PCP) is Principal of Michael Legg and Associates, a consultancy in Information and Organisational Systems. He has more than 20 years experience in senior positions in the health industry. Before establishing ML&A he was Director Developments for Pathology, with what was then Australia's largest private health care group, Mayne, and before that General Manager of Southern Pathology, winners of the Australian Quality Award for Business Excellence. He has been involved for many years in health informatics standards setting with Standards Australia and HL7 and has served on many National Committees including the National Health Information Standards Advisory Committee and the Australian Health Information Council's subcommittee for Electronic Decision Support.

HISA Vice-President Peter Croll

Qualifications

  • BSc (Hons), PhD, FACS, FBCS CITP, CEng

Experience

  • 32 years in Software Engineering of critical ICT systems in both industry and academia with the past 10 years focussing on Health Infomatics research and development.
  • University IT Professor 10 years to include responsibilities as a director of research institute (TITR), a research centre (CITI) and as Head of School (SITACS). Adjunct Professor, Faculty of Health Science, University of Queensland.

HISA Treasurer David Rowlands

Qualifications

Experience

David Rowlands is the Principal of Direkt Consulting Pty Ltd, a management consultancy specializing in governance, standards, strategy and information in the health sector. He has 30 years experience in health and information management. His senior roles in the public health sector have included health service management, service planning and performance management, strategic development, IM/IT management and corporate services. He has served on the Boards of Child Health, Aged Care and health informatics agencies. He also spent ten years with the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

Rachael De Sain

Rachel de Sain is an Digital Industry pioneer, having worked around the globe in the sector for over 13years. Working with Consulting giants Accenture in the UK and Scandinavia on one of the first mobile internet applications for the financial sector in ’99 and moving onto lead teams to develop world first mobile product’s and services for companies such as T-Mobile and MTV Networks in which she became Director of Mobile Content for the international group rolling out their “made for mobile” TV production methodology and successful business processes to all MTV channels across the globe including Asia, Europe, the UK and even here in NZ and Australia.


Jon Hilton

Jon supports a whole of health approach to the use of information in promotion, prevention, education and planned intervention, and works with people to demonstrate that ICT can assist in engaging clients with their own care and enabling providers to support them. He is also working on ICT solutions that will enable funders to assure value for money with minimal interference in service delivery.

Experience

  • 20 years in health infomatics
  • 10 years independent consulting to private and public healthcare organisations. Clients include General Practitioners, most Melbourne Metropolitan Health Services and Community Health Centres.

Brendan Lovelock

Qualifications

Brendan is currently holding the position of the Health Practice Lead at Cisco Systems Australia Pty Ltd. He is a former HISA CEO with extensive Australian and international experience leading IT technology companies, including KODAK’s ASPAC Region digital businesses, Telstra’s distribution operations and several years managing small to medium software companies. He brings a broad understanding of service delivery, project management and operational governance to HISA. Brendan also has broad experience in the application of web systems for the development of online and offline communities.

Tam Shepherd

Tamati Rangi Shepherd ( Tam ) has a background in ICT, Law and Political Science with degrees from Victoria University in Wellington. Tam has held a number of leadership roles in the public and private sectors over the past 15 years including key roles in transformation projects in the welfare, taxation and healthcare sectors. Tam is the Queensland Health Senior Director for eHealth and is responsible for the implementation of Queenslands eHealth Strategy. He brings to this role deep public and private sector expertise in New Zealand as a Manager in the welfare portfolio and Australia as the head of the eHealth Branch of the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing and as former lead consultant with CISCO’s Internet Business Solutions Group ANZ.

 


John Zelcer, M.B., B.S., B.Med.Sc. (Hons), F.A.N.Z.C.A., M.A.I.C.D.

John Zelcer is a medical practitioner and healthcare strategy consultant whose distinguished record of service spans more than 30 years, covering the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. His commercial experience includes healthcare services and products companies in both Australia and the United States. As a medical practitioner and anaesthetist he has held academic appointments and delivered clinical practice in both countries.

His business roles have included board chairmanship, board directorship, and senior executive roles in strategic planning and business development. In addition he has held strategy management consulting, investment banking and medical technology development roles, and has worked with Andersen Consulting (Accenture), Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) and Hewlett Packard in strategic advisory roles.

John is currently a board member of Eastern Health, Victoria and holds executive and board positions in Australian non-profit organisations committed to health service delivery and reconciliation in the Middle East.
