ALBERTA CANCER BOARD
ENABLE THE QUEST FOR A CANCER FREE FUTURE
Chief Information Officer
Marshalling all of the Province's resources in the battle against cancer was the motivating vision behind the creation of the Alberta Cancer Board. Unique in Canada, this centralized Health Authority is mandated to coordinate cancer research, prevention, and treatment to meet measurable milestones toward a Cancer Free Future. By the year 2025, the Board is charged with reducing the number of people with developing cancers by 35% and mortality rates by 50% against current projections. It is also mandated to reduce or eliminate the suffering of every person in Alberta who is living with cancer. To reach these goals, the five divisions of the Alberta Cancer Board will depend on an integrated and harmonized infrastructure that will facilitate the exchange and optimization of information, insights and intelligence garnered across the Province.
Many of Alberta's leading cancer researchers believe that there are already breakthroughs, or maybe even cures, housed in the Province's data. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will embrace your strategic leadership role in the evolution of an information hub that allows researchers, clinicians and caregivers to find answers progressively and co-operatively. Working in concert with The Alberta Cancer Board's divisional leaders and I.S. professionals, you will facilitate innovation and integration. Leading your team of Managers in Enterprise Business Intelligence, Client and Telecommunication Services, Project Management, Application Services, Electronic Security and Servers, you will ensure that all of the Board's stakeholders have secure and seamless access to the data they need to make a Cancer Free Future a reality.
A strategic enabler in a large matrix organization, you most likely possess a PHD or MD with a specialization in medical informatics or a Master's degree in information/data management blended with extensive senior leadership experience in a data intensive environment. An exceptional consensus leader with experience driving multi-stakeholder projects, you now have the opportunity to support one of the world's most dedicated and results-oriented cancer research, treatment and prevention programs.
