Our Purpose

The Health Informatics Society of Australia (HISA) aims to improve healthcare through health informatics.

HISA:

  • Provides a national focus for health informatics, its practitioners, industry and users
  • Advocates on behalf of its members and
  • Provides opportunities for learning and professional development in health informatics

As a society we:

  • Work in the best of interests of our members
  • Promote ethical and professional conduct
  • Have open, consensus-based processes
  • Are effective champions for the value of health informatics
  • Value our Government, industry partners and other stakeholders

Branches and Special Interest Groups

HISA's state branches and our Special Interest Groups are the heart of the our organisation. When you join HISA you can become part of your local branch and have the ability to join in with the local Health IT events. You can also join one of HISA's active Special Interest Groups, which focus on the health informatics issues within specific segments of the Health Care industry. In both the branches and the special interest groups you will meet people who share your passion for Health IT and its ability to fundamentally improve Australian health care.

The Health Informatics Society of Australia (HISA) would like to invite you to the inaugural national conference, Health Privacy Futures - HPF'08, in Brisbane on the 10th and 11th of November.
