HISA Branches and SIGs
HISA NSW
The NSW Branch of HISA was established in May 2001 with a very active membership since inception. HISA NSW arose from the active promotion by the Health Informatics Association of NSW (HIANSW) to support a national health informatics body.
HIANSW, 1991 to 2001, has been actively involved in promoting the discipline of health informatics since its inception. HISA NSW provides a forum for discussing health informatics issues and brings together the diversity of personnel involved in health informatics and health information management. It promotes networking amongst members and opportunities to keep up to date with the vast array of developments within the health informatics arena through its regular monthly meetings and annual conference.
This year, the HISA NSW Branch 2008 Health Informatics Conference will be held on Friday 14th March 2008 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Coogee Beach. The theme of the conference is "Think Globally Act Locallly". Registration is now available from www.hisansw.org.au/conference

HISA Victoria (1984 to present)
HISA Vic - was established as a HISA branch in November 2001. Victoria's history commenced in 1984 with the formation of the Nursing Computer Group (Vic). In 1991 the group hosted the very successful international " Nursing Informatics '91 " congress, an event of IMIA NI. In 1992 the group underwent a name change to represent all Australian nurse informaticians - "Nursing Informatics Australia". During that year the group amalgamated with AHIA Vic to become HISA Vic Inc. 1993, the birth year of HISA, HISA Vic funded the first HIC event and continued financially supporting the formation of the national organisation. The funds and activities generated during the first two years supported the young national organisation - HISA. HISA Vic is proud to have been a member of the HISA foundation group assisting in the development of the national professional association.
From 1993 to 2000 HISA Vic was a very active informatics reference/educational group.
Meetings are held at the HISA Office, 413 Lygon St. Brunswick East
(phone 03 9388 0555).

HISA Qld
The Qld Branch of HISA has regular forums on current topical issues. These forums have provided us with an active membership that ensures the Qld Executive Committee (that meet monthly/bimonthly) stays on track and in focus.
We aim to foster and maintain a strong health informatics community in Queensland by providing opportunities for discussion, debate, learning and networking for people with an interest in informatics in health care. As a Branch we will maintain links with HISA nationally and represent and advocate in national health informatics forums on behalf of our membership.
