HISA President Michael Legg

Michael Legg BSc(Hons) MCom PhD FAICD FAIM FACHI MACS(PCP) is Principal of Michael Legg and Associates, a consultancy in Information and Organisational Systems. He has more than 20 years experience in senior positions in the health industry. Before establishing ML&A he was Director Developments for Pathology, with what was then Australia's largest private health care group, Mayne, and before that General Manager of Southern Pathology, winners of the Australian Quality Award for Business Excellence. He has been involved for many years in health informatics standards setting with Standards Australia and HL7 and has served on many National Committees including the National Health Information Standards Advisory Committee and the Australian Health Information Council's subcommittee for Electronic Decision Support.

HISA Vice-President Jon Hilton
Jon supports a whole of health approach to the use of information in promotion, prevention, education and planned intervention, and works with people to demonstrate that ICT can assist in engaging clients with their own care and enabling providers to support them. He is also working on ICT solutions that will enable funders to assure value for money with minimal interference in service delivery.

HISA Secretary Marcus Wise
Works with the Tasmanian health department as senior informatics consultant in primary health. Semi-retired and devoting more time to several voluntary projects in Burundi and Uganda. Winner of the inaugural (2006) Don Walker award for improving access to health care.

- 20 years in the acute and public health sector in NSW, Vic, NT and abroad. Worked in the NT since 1992.
- Health informatics experience since 1998.
- Currently a Fellow in the Victorian Public Health Training Scheme which has provided insight into informatics requirements in the public health/research and community/welfare sector.
Nilva has worked in the health sector for 20 years. She was introduced to the wonders of databases in 1996 as a public health nurse in the Northern Territory. She is currently a Victorian Public Health Training Scheme Fellow interested in having the disciplines of public health and health informatics work together for important work such as 'closing the gap' in Australian society and for the control of communicable diseases. Gary Morgan is the founding CEO of The Australian e-Health Research Centre, a joint venture between CSIRO and the Queensland Government.
Established in 2003, The Australian e-Health Research Centre is a leading national research facility in ICT for healthcare innovations.
Prior to this, he was the founding CEO and President of Wedgetail Communications, a spin-off company from the CRC for Distributed Systems Technology Centre (DSTC). Wedgetail's identity management solutions were deployed in leading global financial services firms, technology corporations and government agencies. Gary Morgan has more than 25 years experience in business development and commercialisation of technology research and product development in public and private sectors.
Gary holds an Adjunct Associate Professor appointment with the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Queensland. He currently serves as a Board Member of the Health Informatics Society of Australia, Ltd. Gary is also a member of the Cancer Australia National Data Strategy Advisory Group and the Standards Australia IT-014 Health Informatics committee.
A member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Gary Morgan has a MBA and a Graduate Diploma from Queensland University of Technology and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Griffith University.
