Health Informatics -
- Building a Healthcare Future Through Trusted Information

Consumers | Practitioners | Researchers | Industry

The Health Informatics Society of Australia (HISA) is pleased to invite you to participate in HIC 2012, Australia’s Health Informatics Conference, to be held from 30 July - 2 August 2012 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.

With the primary theme of Health Informatics – Building a Healthcare Future through Trusted Information, HIC2012 will focus on consumers, practitioners, researchers and industry.

The momentum behind e-health and health informatics is soaring and there is much international attention being focused on the Australian e-health community - our research, developments and implementations. The foundations for an e-health led transformation of healthcare are already with us. The Federal Government’s investment in personally controlled electronic health records, lead implementation sites, telehealth delivery and the building of a National Broadband Network attests to this momentum. Indeed, the PCEHR will be launched 30 days before the conference and will no-doubt be a topic heavily discussed during HIC.

As Australia’s largest e-health and health informatics conference, the HIC program will include over 100 presentations over 4 days. HIC is renowned for the quality and relevancy of its program and we encourage you to make sure your work, your ideas, your research, your case study is part of HIC and contributes to the national dialogue.

On Monday 30th July HIC will host 3 satellite conferences: Nursing Informatics Australia, Digital Hospital Design and Indigenous Health Informatics. These events will issue separate Calls for Submissions, which will also be available on the HIC 2012 website.

The next three days of the main conference will be themed around topics of major current interest:

Tuesday 31st July External drivers and demands – health informatics doing more with less
Wednesday 1st August Evidence and Outcomes: Linking research and evidence of what is working into practice
Thursday 2nd August A digital health system: Future visions and people to support

The program will include keynote speakers, panels, workshops, presentations from academia, presentations from industry, presentations from State, Jurisdictional and Federal government and sessions focused on Aged Care Informatics and Games for Health.
