Pathology has been a consistent leader in the use of information technology and process to improve efficiency and quality. Australia has been a leader in this area.

HISA's Pathology Informatics Special Interest Group brings together the Australian thought leaders in this area. The group, lead by Prof Michael Legg, has had the focus in 2007 to partner with the US Association of Pathology informatics to deliver the First World Congress on Pathology Informatics.

This congress assembled the international thought leaders in pathology informatics in Brisbane to focus on both technological advances and international best practice in this field.
