The Digital Hospital Design community of practice at HISA started seven years ago when there was an unprecedented program for the construction of new hospitals and at the time the focus was on the interface between built environment design and technology.

While we have made a significant contribution to this discussion, it has become clear we cannot build our way out of the challenges facing our healthcare system.

The creation of new hospitals and healthcare facilities alone will not be sufficient to meet the growing demand for care or address the challenging cost issues.

Investment in infrastructure needs to be supplemented with innovation in the way we deliver and support care within our hospitals and care facilities.

We are looking to refocus the work of the Digital Hospital Design SIG into how we can use information technology to accelerate the evolution of these facilities, to enable process change within the organisations, so that they can better deliver on the triple aim of quality, cost and experience of care.

We are looking to extend our community of practice with members who have interest in innovation and new models of process change within hospitals.

Experience with process and technology innovation both outside and inside healthcare is welcomed.
