Hacking Health @ HIC was another successful and exciting event this year shining a light on digital health innovation and health system change. With over 140 registered participants, 40 mentors, 2 Brazilian facilitators, the event saw 20 initial projects come down to 12 final presentations which were all represented the quality output and work that this three day focused event brings. This year there was a focus on connecting care and delivering value which saw involvement from the Australian Digital Health Agency and eHealth QLD. Well done to all involved including our sponsors DXC Technology, Oracle, HISA, and our supporting organisations.

Prizes winners were 1st Prize clearSKY, which developed a tool to dynamically visualise the cancer genome. 2nd Prize to My Story with a team from Brisbane North Primary Health Network developing an App for consumers to more easily capture their health history and interact with health practitioners. 3rd Prize and People’s Choice Award to Tymp Screen By Machine which applied machine learning automation to otology images for ENT referrals.

Projects came together last week in Brisbane for a post debrief event where teams and participants shared experiences. We will watch and report projects progress through 2017/18. Calls for interest were put out for establishing a Hacking Health Chapter in Brisbane. Anyone interested in knowing more please contact Hacking Health through email.
