HITWA first international speaker
Asia-Pac mobile health and digital health expert Prof Doug Vogel has been confirmed to lead a workshop for the forthcoming HITWA 2014 conference in Perth on November 7.
US-born Prof Vogel recently took up leadership of the e-health research institute at Harbin Institute of Technology School of Management in China. He will lead a workshop on the subject of mobile devices in healthcare, offering his insights into trends across Asia-Pacific. He has published widely and been recognised as the most-cited IS author in Asia Pacific.
HITWA 2014 opens at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre on Friday 7 November and is organised by the WA branches of the Health Informatics Society of Australia (HISA) and the Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA).
HITWA will be officially opened by acting Director General of WA Health Prof Bryant Stokes AM.
Other speakers include Dr Merran Smith, Chief Executive, Population Health Research Network and W/Prof Fiona Wood AM, Director of the WA Burns Service who are speaking on the importance of leadership.
Prof Moira Sim, Head of the School of Medical Sciences at ECU, will speak about being “HIT ready” for baby boomers in aged care.
A/Prof Trish Williams, from the School of Computer and Security Science, Edith Cowan University, and leader of their e-health research group, will lead a workshop on EMR data ownership including copyright and the concept of ownership of electronic medical and health information.
