Health Informatics Society of Australia (HISA) members will be eligible to apply for a scholarship to undertake a health informatics degree at the University of Tasmania (UTAS).

UTAS is offering the Bachelor of e-Health (Health Informatics) Professional Honours on a scholarship basis to HISA members.  Applications are open from September with the course commencing in February 2018.  The online degree is a two-year part-time course.

HISA CEO Dr Louise Schaper welcomed the agreement with UTAS and said it was a great opportunity for members to build on their qualifications and develop their digital health knowledge.

“Across Australia while there are continual investments in digital health projects, the health workforce does not yet have enough clinicians with a strong grasp of health informatics.

“If our health system is to realise the benefits from information and technology, and become more sustainable, we need many more clinicians with a sound understanding of digital health,” she said.

The course covers a comprehensive range of digital health units ranging from Data, Information and Knowledge, eHealth Privacy and Security Issues to Electronic Health Records, Research Methods and Managing Change.
