David Rowlands

Extensive experience in strategic change in health informatics, and a 30 year record of achievement in e-health, information, standards and health system improvement.

I am a management consultant specialising in health and health informatics, and have recently launched the Digital Health Workforce Academy – a provider of online training courses in health informatics – in collaboration with HISA.

I have a broad background in the health sector. I have worked for public sector health agencies in two States as well for the Commonwealth Department, and have held Directorships on a variety of not-for-profit health and related agencies. My executive roles have included managing health services; health service planning and performance management; information management and management of corporate services. I have led a range of national strategic initiatives in Australia and Asia.

I am a former HISA Chair, and remain committed to developing Australia’s health informatics capabilities. I am the author of A Practitioner’s Guide to Health Informatics in Australia, available through the HISA Shop.
