This workshop covers a range of topics related to electronic health communication and standardisation relevant to health providers, managers and IT industry. The unifying theme is building on and purchasing medical devices and EMR systems with an understanding of how they integrate using health communication standards. IHE profiles integrate standards with clinical workflows – end to end.

The workshop will commence with an introduction and update on major health IT standards such as HL7, SNOMED-CT and Australian Medicines Terminology, and IHE. And as with all conferences it is as much about who you meet as what you learn


Who are IHE – Integrating Healthcare Enterprises?

IHE is an international healthcare integration standards organisation working with key players such as HL7, DICOM, IEEE and healthcare professional organisations to put standard systems into practice. The IHE Patient Care Device (PCD) domain was formed in 2005 to address the integration of medical devices into the healthcare enterprise. IHE Australia is a member of the Australian health information systems standards development community.
