Her background in clinical informatics, strong online community connections, and passion for technology help her inspire and motivate other clinicians to embrace technology and feel empowered by it.
“A Nursing Informatician in New York city” Lis Herbert will present on how she came to be working in New York, her role including implementation, projects and support and the difference between nursing informaticians in Australia and New York.
Lis was with Queensland Health for 30 years, as both a clinical nurse in ICU/CCU and OT, and in the health informatics arena. Her experience as a nurse informatician includes both change and project management, business and system analysis and district/state wide clinical system implementations within the Public health sector. In 2013 she undertook the role of E-Health Project Officer at the Gold Coast Medicare Local during the implementation of the Federal e-health initiative for enhancing health informatics in the primary care sector. She is currently working in New York City where she is an Epic Ambulatory Analyst within the Clinical Transformation Group of the Mount Sinai Organisation. Lis has been a member of HISA from its inception, a member of the NIA Committee for the past 8 years, and is currently the chair of NIA. Lis is widely respected for her depth of knowledge in informatics and passion for its use within healthcare at all levels, promoting positive patient outcomes whilst enhancing safe and effective healthcare.
