MedicAlert was founded by Dr. Marion Collins in California in 1953 as a way to alert medical and emergency service personnel to his daughter’s potentially fatal anaphylaxis. The Australia Medic Alert Foundation (MedicAlert) is a public benevolent, not-for-profit membership based organisation, established in Australia in 1971 as part of the International Medic Alert Foundation, with its national office in Adelaide.

MedicAlert remains committed to providing peace of mind to hundreds of thousands of people across Australia living with medical and health conditions, protecting them in urgent and emergency situations. MedicAlert has achieved this by providing customers with medical identification products supported by its clinical validation of member’s health and medication information and provision of a live 24/7 emergency response service. This allows emergency and healthcare professionals to quickly identify medical, health and other needs and provide the fastest and most effective treatment when seconds count.

As it has in many other industries, digital distribution is rapidly affecting traditional models of healthcare delivery. Business and operating models that have functioned successfully for many decades are in many instances, being turned on their head, as the consumerisation of health care, the democratisation of medical knowledge, and the rise of new technologies transform and disrupt the status quo.

MedicAlert has been the leading emergency response service and provider of medical identification jewellery and products for many decades, and continues to focus on high quality, clinically validated member information, and to deliver this to the point of care in new modalities that meet the needs of the emergency response stakeholders. In recognising the importance of member’s medical and health information, MedicAlert is embarking on a digital transformation program that will align the organisation’s future centred around the value of member’s health information as its core asset.

MedicAlert is seeking to engage a suitable skilled consultant to work with the leadership team to lead and manage an exciting digital and IT change program within the organisation.
